I’m sure this has really done loads to be fair. My compost heap was ticking along ok but thought this might help digest some of the larger twigs etc so added some each time I added anything to the heap. It just looks like grit to me, although presumably it’s inoculated somehow, anyway the heap may have moved a bit quicker, but it certainly wasn’t a huge difference. It seems a good price too for 3L bag.
🔹INTRO & DESCRIPTION🔹I have recently taken on an allotment, and when I took over the plot the previous occupant left behind a compost bin. I have never made my own compost before, so I decided it would be the perfect time to give it a try.I was spurred on by the fact that my local council has introduced a “green bin tax”, meaning that if we add garden waste to our green bin, we must pay extra to get it emptied. So, making my own compost seemed to be the best way forward as :a) It would utilise the bin I had inherited.b) It would avoid me having to pay my green bin tax.c) It’s more environmentally friendly.d) Hopefully I will also save money on buying bags of compost next year.I have read much about making my own compost and have begun with garden waste, kitchen waste so a mix of “brown” and “green” items. However, the process does seem rather slow. I was therefore delighted to see this product on Amazon. The Lava-Lite Composter+ is best used as an activator for compost bins. It’s 100% natural and child and pet safe. To use, you simply sprinkle a layer on top of each new layer of waste in your compost bin. It can also be used to improve shop bought compost.🔹OPINION🔹&🔹CONCLUSION🔹When you open it it rather resembles what you might find in the base of your barbeque. It’s in a resealable 1 litre bag, which is currently priced at £9.99. The compost bin I have is quite large, so I am not sure how long this will last, or how much it speeds up the process, but time will tell. It is too early to comment on how effective this product will be, but hopefully I will soon be able to look forward to my own home made compost.
Came very well packaged so hopefully it will make me some nice compost for the spring. But did feel a scope in the packet would have been helpful.
I ordered this Lava-Lite Composter + to see if it would speed things up in the old composting depatment. Its hard to review at this stage as I've just mixed it in between the wet and dry layers on the pile, easy enough to do, and to be fair i've added a load of extra organic matter on these as the season draws to a close. This stuff is greyiish and you can see it being mixed it, I would like to hope it might reduce the need to turn the compst quite often if it is bubbling away (metaphorically) among the layers. I would certainly say, unless you just have one of those little barrel turner composty-things, that you might opt for the larger size. As well as it being storable if neessary its considerably better value for money.1litre at the time for writing is £5.60 while 3 litres just now is £10.99.Watch and wait for this one. But for ease of use certainly, it can have four stars
